Child custody cases could interest Massachusetts parents

Some Massachusetts residents may think that celebrities lead perfect lives. However, many actors and actresses and other well-known individuals can face divorce and child custody issues just as other people can. These proceedings can be difficult, especially because they are often covered by news outlets, but concerned parties may be able to learn from the situations that celebrities find themselves in.

Celebrities are not immune to having custody issues resurface after a divorce has been finalized. Sherri Shepherd has recently found herself in multiple custody situations regarding her 9-year-old son with her first husband as well as an unborn child with her second husband with whom she is going through a divorce. In the situation with her son, her ex-husband wanted to change the custody agreement as he believed that Shepherd was neglecting the child due to her busy work schedule.

As the case concluded, it was determined that Shepherd would maintain primary custody of the child. The judge involved in the case did not recognize any significant changes in the conditions regarding custody of the child that would require a modification of the agreement. Shepherd hopes to maintain support from her fans and other individuals concerned with her situation.

As this case shows, parents may be able to petition for a change in child custody agreements, but it may be necessary to have evidence that there has been some sort of change in the circumstances that could lead to modifications. If Massachusetts parents are concerned for the welfare of their children and wish to seek changes to their custody agreements, they may wish to ensure that they have a strong case. Information on custody modifications in the state could help parents determine the best way to present their custody wishes in court.
