Celebrity chef and husband settle divorce

Many couples in Massachusetts and elsewhere amicably separate before finally divorcing. Not every divorce has to be a messy affair. In many cases, both spouses come to a quick agreement as to what amount of child support is owed, how child custody is to be arranged and who gets to keep what properties. An amicable separation is often permitted because of some legal legwork done before the divorce even begins.

According to reports, Food Network star, Giada De Laurentiis, and her husband, fashion designer Todd Thompson, amicably separated in July of 2014, before they decided to divorce in December. Now, the couple has finalized their divorce, according to reports. They were married for 11 years.

Reports say that the husband will retain possession of the couple's $3.2 million California home. Both spouses will share custody of the couple's 7-year-old daughter. In addition, Giada De Laurentiis will owe her husband $9,000 every month in child support.

Sometimes, sadly, an amicable divorce is not always a possibility. Divorce can involve some messy emotions. When it comes to deciding who to have primary custody of a child or who gets to retain possession of a family home, emotion can get in the way of clear thinking. Nonetheless, by approaching such situations with a clear head, it is often possible to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement.

Coming to a mutually agreeable arrangement usually requires a strong and airtight legal strategy. While a legal professional cannot help with the emotional side of divorce, an attorney is able to help divorcing spouses devise a legal strategy that can pave the way for a smooth divorce.
