Prenups could ease property division for Massachusetts couples

Many Massachusetts couples may go into a marriage believing they will stay together forever. In cases like this, some people may not see the need or even balk at taking precautionary measures when it comes to the idea of divorce issues. However, setting up legal documents that can deal with property division and other family law issues before a marriage can create a less stressful situation if a seemingly perfect marriage does begin to go downhill later on.

Study of Massachusetts divorce information provides insight

The topic of separation can be a difficult one for any couple to broach. Could that topic, however, be easier to discuss if friends of the couple have gone through divorce? A recent study has examined data from participants in Massachusetts that could indicate the likelihood of a couple separating if they have a friend or friends who have gone through divorce.

Govt. shutdown causing concern over child support payments

The shutting down of the federal government has left many people across the country, including those in Massachusetts, wondering how they may be affected. Numerous people have been furloughed from their employment positions as federal offices have been closed, which has caused setbacks for some due to the lack of immediate income. Other individuals -- who have not necessarily been furloughed -- are also expressing concerns in relation to the shutdown and to certain income, such as child support payments.

What role does cheating play in a Massachusetts divorce?

Few things are more emotionally devastating than finding out that one's spouse has been unfaithful. Many men and women in Massachusetts file for divorce in the aftermath of an affair, and expect their partner's poor choices to be reflected in the outcome of the divorce settlement. They are often shocked to learn that infidelity plays a very small role in divorce.

Financial issues due to divorce could hit Massachusetts residents

Though money problems can be a significant cause in a Massachusetts couple's decision to separate, ending a marriage does not necessarily mean that money issues will be resolved. In some cases, the costs associated with divorce can result in considerable financial issues. The amount that can accrue during proceedings differs greatly from couple to couple and from state to state, and therefore, an umbrella figure cannot be applied to the cost of divorce.
